I am...obsessed with the idea of an Out and Back trip?! Why have I never thought to do this? It's the perfect use of the cheap regional Alaska Airlines fares that are always on offer here. Depending on the season, it would be so fun to pop over to Palm Springs or Jackson Hole from Seattle!
I'm so glad you enjoyed my travel-planning post. I really adore the outlook on travel you shared here, along with the amazing-sounding memory snippets from recent trips. This was all such a treat to read, Marissa!
RIGHT?! It feels right up both of our alleys! Seattle has been on my list for ages...but it would definitely need to be more than one day for me ;)
Palm Springs is such a delight. I'd want to wear some sort of super fun midcentury-inspired outfit and lay by the Ace Hotel pool all day long. 😎
And thank you so much! I can tell we're kindred spirits in the way we view and treasure travel. It's such a gift. (Also, I am just bursting for you to go to Scotland later this year—it might just be my favorite place in the whole world!)
I can picture this aspirational Palm Springs trip in my mind's eye! Co-signed on your note about being kindred travel spirits.
By the way, I'm delighted to hear that you love Scotland (I went one other time, but as a baby, so I have zero memory of it)—and for what it's worth, my DMs are open if you have any unmissable favorites in either Edinburgh or the Isle of Skye! ❤️
"wanderlust is prickling under my skin" — gorgeous, and can relate.
I love this idea of a quickie trip, though it had never really occurred to me as a feasible concept! As far as possible day trip destinations that speak to me: I've been wanting to visit the upper Midwest (never been!) for some good summer lake vibes ... so maybe the twin cities? Or somewhere in Michigan? I'd also love to go back to Portland, ME and/or visit Acadia!
I know, I totally counted the idea out in the past, never really considering it as a legitimate option! I, too, have spent like zero time in the midwest (except for Chicago) and really feel like I'd enjoy lake culture. Portland, ME is also very high on my list! P.S. I definitely looked at flights to Richmond—very annoyed that there are seemingly no direct ones from PGH!

Sorry not sorry in advance for spamming your DMs because ya girl has THOUGHTS 🤓🤓🤓
Bring 'em on, I've done literally zero research at this point (except for the most basic hotel/transit stuff) and was mostly planning on winging it! 😅
